In the Works...

.

NOTE - Since the info. I originally had set up here ended up being rather redundant after I added to the main page, I've decided to change this page and have it be a running diary/blog of sorts of what I accomplish each week.  That will help me to keep track of things while also giving others who may be curious an idea of where I'm at with the process involved.  I'll continue plugging away and just keep working on things as much as possible until everything has been completed...or as completed as it can get with the constant changes in what's out there. Thanks for your patience!

I generally spend at least some time on things every day.  The amount of time depends on how I'm feeling and what else may be going on.  But, it's safe to say that I spend more time on this than on any other activity. lol  Updates will normally be posted by Friday evenings so there's fresh material to check out on weekends...every week for the main site and at least every other week for the yahoo group.

For those who may wonder... Yes, I do have a life.  But, this does consume much of it at times.  Most of the time that I'm working on things, I'll have the weather channel, news or a movie on, soft music playing, laundry running, etc.  While Drew's at work, I'll take quick breaks from this periodically to do dishes, shovel the walk and any other day to day things that need doing.  In the evenings, we're generally just watching movies & tv shows anyway.  So, I'll be doing site work while we watch.

March 5-12, 2010  (Time spent on site/group work this week -       hours)

Continuing on household projects next week.  We also just learned that we have an unexpected family funeral to see to.  But, I should still be doing more site work than this past week. Once again...  We'll see what happens.

Feb 26 - March 5, 2010  (Time spent on site/group work this week - 7 hours)

Not sure what I'll be doing next week.  I have some household projects I've been putting off.  If my body cooperates, I may start in on that and do less site work.  We'll see what happens.

Well, my body did cooperate for the most part.  So, the bulk of my time this week was spent sorting, cleaning and dumping in my cellar in preparation to get it transformed into a useable space.  What does that mean for site work?  Well, since I've yet to learn how to bilocate, I didn't get too much done.  I added a few new artists/profiles and plugged in more links on the individual artist pages.  I sifted through the first 700 or so old threads in the artwork forum.  Most of what's there is linked to old closed sites.  While we won't have anything immediate to gain from that, those sites will later be added to the closed sites archive and any remaining content saved to be made available.  I also updated the events listing again.

Feb 19-26, 2010  (Time spent on site/group work this week - 31 hours)

I'm hesitant to state a plan for next week since the last few weeks have been such duds in getting much accomplished.  So, I'll just leave it as planning to do more work as life...and my body...allow.

Between Friday night and Saturday, I spent about 9 hours adding 67 files to the Clips Directories, most of them mainstream clips.  On Sunday, I worked for about 8 hours, adding 94 titles and 16 author names to the Library.  On Monday, I finally joined fetlife and spent about 3 hours checking out groups there, adding 38 new groups to the Links Directories before getting busy doing stuff around the house.  Tuesday, I wasn't feeling too hot.  So, I took the day to just relax.  Wednesday, I decided to plug in more of the clip files.  I worked for about 6 hours in all, adding an additional 64 files.  Thursday, I spent about 5 hours on the yahoo group...gathering and scanning more pics to plug into the yahoo group...adding another 9 folders with 800 pics and 100 pieces of artwork.  Thursday night, I did a bit of tidy-up work and then uploaded things around midnight.

Feb 12-19, 2010  (Time spent on site/group work this week - 21 hours)

The plan for this week, once again, was to attempt to get back on my normal update schedule.  First on the agenda was to get a couple more closed sites added to the Archives since it's been a while.  Then, I planned to start with more artwork links and continue from there.

I took the weekend off to give my system a chance to rest...and to spend Valentines Day focusing on Drew rather than site work.  Monday, I noticed a few new events listed...two of them during the week.  So, I put up a quick update to the Events page.  I also got a jump on the Artist's Directories, getting on a roll and spending about 15 hours between Monday & Tuesday adding 120 links and 31 artists there and an additional 18 links in the main links directories.  I got a late start on things Wednesday after having to clear all the lovely snow we got. (It really was lovely, too!  And heavy! lol)   I didn't get a whole lot done, but spent a couple of hours getting some stories added to the Library.  On Thursday, I spent the day running errands and catching up on a few things that had gotten behind with me being laid up the last couple of weeks.  So, no site work.  Today (Friday), I plugged in some more stories, added a couple more new events and got things uploaded.

For those who may be wondering, I haven't forgottend about the closed sites.  They just take more concentration to prepare.  So, when I'm hurting and on meds to calm my system down, I tend to not work on them.  I get pretty spacey from them and don't want to mess things up.  I promise to get more up soon, though...along with another Focus On Community segment!

Feb 6-12, 2010  (Time spent on site/group work this week -  about 22 hours)

The plan for this week was to attempt to get on track with a regular schedule, adding to the Library, Clip & Artists Directories and hopefully getting another closed site or two up.  I got more done than last week, but still not as much as I'd hoped for.  Better luck next week, I guess!

On Saturday, I spent about 5 hours doing some prep work for future updates, including rearranging and re-linking the artist profiles to allow for faster loading as I work on things.  Sunday, I was too zoned out to get anything done.  Between Monday and Tuesday, I spent about 11 hours working on the Library...adding 56 mainstream articles, 77 story titles and 15 author names.  On Wednesday, I spent about 5 hours working on the Clips Directories, adding 37 new files to the listing.  Thursday was pretty much a wash, too out of it to really get anything accomplished, other than checking for and adding any new events.  Friday, I just finished formatting things and got them uploaded.

Jan. 29 - Feb 5, 2010  (Time spent on site/group work this week - about 25 hours)

The goal for this week was to get a good chunk of work done on the artists directories, gather any additional event info. and whatever eles presents itself.  Got that much done, but no more.  It's been a rough week pain-wise.  So, time spent working on things was limitted.  I added another 5 groups of pics to the yahoo group...502 images in all.  I got over 100 new artwork links and a couple of new artist names added, though.

Jan. 23-29, 2010  (Time spent on site/group work this week -  about 20 hours)

The goal for this week is to at least get a little cleanup and gathering done.  But, there won't be much for site work since we'll be away both weekends and preparing for the arrival of company staying with us for my great aunt's 95th b'day celebration.  Ended up just doing some cleanup and backup work.  Nothing new added.

Jan. 16-22, 2010  (Time spent on site/group work this week - 32 hours)

The goal for this week  was to get back onto a regular schedule of updating each section on a weekly basis until things are finally completed...or as completed as they can get.  Life kinda got in the way of that.  But, at least it didn't consume every waking moment.

I got last week's update finished and up Friday afternoon, then took the rest of the day to catch up on things around the house.  Saturday, Drew & I took advantage of a nice day and did a day trip up to Portland, ME to his favorite brewery and music store.  Sunday, I did a little clean-up, organizing and backup of files. Monday, I added another 100+ stories to the Library.  Tuesday and Wednesday, I sifted through and found another 80 clips that weren't yet listed.  Thursday, I prepared a new Focus On Community segment, gathered a few more event details and got things ready to upload.  Friday, I spotted a new event that I then added before uploading things.

Jan. 9-15, 2010  (Time spent on site/group work this week - 76 hours)

The goal for this week was to finish gathering artist names, then set up the base pages for each artist before getting back to work on the other sections.  I actually accomplished that goal.  Yay me! lol

I took a break Friday morning, then started back in working on things Friday afternoon.  By Saturday evening, I'd already spent about 24 hours finishing going through roughly 12,000 threads to gather artist names.  I got that much uploaded, along with a couple more profiles.  Then, I began the slow & tedious task of setting up the base pages for each of the nearly 600 artists whose names turned up in my searches.  Berween Sunday & Monday, another 24 hours were spent on that.

Tuesday, I grabbed just over 500 more pics, which will be scanned before being uploaded to the yahoo group...esp since I encountered yet another virus in the process of gathering them.  Then I gathered over 200 new links, some of which will be in the artists directory as well as in the links directory.  Wednesday and Thursday were spent sifting through those links to gather details about each and get them plugged in to the appropriate pages.  Friday, I grabbed fresh event info., finished wrapping things up and got everything uploaded.

Jan. 2-8, 2010  (Time spent on site/group work this week - roughly 60 hours)

I did a small Library update over the weekend as well as updating link & event info. and adding a new Focus On Community segment to remind folks of the TMF's Golden Feather Awards.  On Sunday, I decided it was time to finally begin work on the Artist Directories.  I'd originally planned to wait until the Library had been completed.  But, it's taking too long and this is simply too important a project to wait any longer.  Sunday evening, I began looking through to see just what I had ahead of me and formulate a plan.  Then, on Monday, I composed a profile survey for artists to fill out and submit.  This was cross-posted on the TMF, Tickle Theater and UKTF as well as here on the site itself.  (The plan is to have as many complete profiles as possible when it's finished.)

The remainder of the week has been spent getting the section set up...tweaking things a bit as I went along.  I've been formatting and uploading pages for those who've completed their profiles.  I've also been gathering artist names by going through the various artwork forums to see who all has contributed pieces to the community.  I've gotten through over 6,500 threads so far...covering all of the UKTF and TMF and starting on the Tickle Theater.  (I hope to finish TT by Monday or Tuesday.)

Since I got enough done to open the section sooner than expected, I also wrote up another new Focus On Community segment to look at our artists and the little attention they often get.  I took some time to grab a few new links and fresh event info. that had been posted and admit several new members to the yahoo group...as well as re-doing this page.  I also took advantage of the new 1 TB external harddrive that Drew got me for Christmas and backed up everything from the site and yahoo group.  Heck!  I even snuck in an hour or so to clean the house! lol   It's been a productive week.
