SSAWLT:
Survivors of Sexual Abuse Who Love Tickling
.
I'll be adding to and reformatting things as time passes. But, I wanted to get this up and available to folks as quickly as possible.
If you know of other good resources to add, please feel free to send me a note and let me know of them.
.
Tickling and sexual abuse sometimes go hand in hand. Some of us turn to tickling (and/or other fetishes) as a way to deal with that abuse. This area is geared towards those who have a history of sexual abuse. Over the years, several people in the tickling community have come forward to share this as a part of their background. This space will contain a variety of information and resources that may be of help for those with a history of abuse.
We'll also be offering a support group that will be open to members only. So, you have the option for a safe place to share your struggles if this is something you may find helpful.
Please excuse the chaos as we get the information gathered and properly organized.
.
If you need someone to talk to and we aren't around at the moment,
this is a national network that provides a 24/7 hotline.

Books & Other Offline Resources
Book -
"Boundaries: Where You End and I Begin"
by Anne Katherine, MA
Publ. 1991 by MJF Books, NYC, NY
This is a helpful book for those who struggle to establish or maintain personal boundaries as a result of their abuse.
Book -
"The Gift Nobody Wants"
by Dr. Paul Brand with Philip Yancey
Publ. 1993 by HarperCollins, NYC, NY
This book deals with how we view physical pain...and why it's necessary. But, the ideas cross over into emotional pain as well. It's a favorite of mine and an excellent read. Just another one to add to the list if you're looking for something a bit different from the norm. (A caution to those who get queezy easily. There are some rather graphic descriptions of a few medical procedures.)
Book -
"Post Traumatic Stress Disorder: The Victim's Guide to Healing and Recovery"
by Raymond B Flannery, Jr., Ph.D.
Publ. 1995 by Crossroad Publishing, NYC, NY
An excellent resource for those with PTSD, have flashbacks, panic attacks and the like. Many survivors struggle with this without even knowing what it is. While we discourage self-diagnosis of any kind, we do encourage people to be informed.
Book -
"Slayer of the Soul: Child Sexual Abuse and the Catholic Church"
by Fr. Stephen. J. Rossetti
Publ. 1990 by Twenty-Third Publications, Mystic, CT
Fr. Steve is one of the good guys. He's a priest who used to be in my home parish and now works at St. Luke's Institue and travels all over the world to help deal with the problems of sexual abuse by clergy. The book looks at the way the Catholic Church has largely mishandled the issue from the beginning and challenges her to do so properly in the future. It also looks at the unique struggles that those of us who were abused by clergy face in our faith lives. Heavy, but excellent.
